About Sarah Hall
I got my first camera when I was 8 years old. It was purple and plastic, and it—correction, I took terrible pictures. But it laid the foundation for what would become a serious hobby and ultimately my life's passion. My love of photography blossomed on the many national park vacations I was blessed to take with my family growing up. Then after college I had the opportunity to work as a Park Ranger Naturalist in amazing places like Grand Teton and Everglades National Parks. I spent all my free time hiking and taking literally thousands of pictures of wildlife, flowers, and gorgeous landscapes.
When I moved back to Wisconsin in 2005 and eventually settled in the Northwoods with my new husband and orange tabby cat named Oliver, I discovered that taking pictures of people is even more fun than nature! I started with self portraits and challenged myself to do one self portrait every day for a whole year. After that enlightening and invigorating project, I decided I wanted to help others preserve their special memories through photographs too. At the end of 2009 my husband and I welcomed a beautiful new daughter into our family and we thank God every day for her. My newest project is documenting her first year of life daily through the lens—it's a new challenge and the pictures I take are already precious memories!
Because of my nature photography background, I love combining nature and portrait photography into one art—when we get together for your session, we not only enjoy spending time in beautiful outdoor Northwoods settings, but your pictures will reflect the beauty of the natural environment as well. Oh yes, for those who might be interested, I shoot with a Canon EOS 40D digital SLR camera and a variety of lenses. But I take the pictures, not my camera, and hopefully you'll love what you see. :-)
