About

I got my first camera when I was 8 years old. It was purple and plastic, and it—correction, I took terrible pictures. But it laid the foundation for what would become my life’s passion. My love of photography blossomed on the many national park vacations I was blessed to take with my family growing up. Then after college I had the opportunity to work as a Park Ranger Naturalist in amazing places like Grand Teton and Everglades National Parks. I spent all my free time hiking and taking literally thousands of pictures of wildlife, flowers, and gorgeous landscapes.

I moved back to Wisconsin in 2005 and eventually settled in the northwoods with my new husband and orange tabby cat named Oliver. I soon discovered a new passion in taking pictures of people! I started with self portraits and challenged myself to do one self portrait every day for a whole year. After that enlightening and invigorating project, I decided I wanted to help others preserve their special memories through photographs too and I launched Sarah Hall Photography in 2008. Since then our family has grown–at the end of 2009 we welcomed our first daughter, Adria, and at the beginning of 2012 we welcomed a second daughter, Elise. When I’m not taking pictures of clients, you’ll find me photographing my two girls – as of early 2012 I’ve taken over 25,000 pictures of them!

Because of my nature photography background, I love combining nature and portrait photography into one art—when we get together for your session, we not only enjoy spending time in beautiful outdoor northwoods settings, but your pictures will reflect the beauty of the natural environment as well. Oh yes, for those who might be interested, I shoot with a Canon EOS 7D digital SLR camera and a variety of lenses.
